Where an idea becomes something you can use.
SOMLIS designs and builds websites, applications and business software. We start with the business behind the idea, then build what it actually needs.
What we build.
Every project is different. These are the four forms the work usually takes.
Websites
Business, corporate and product sites. Built to be read, trusted and found, not just to look finished.
- Business and corporate sites
- Product and launch sites
- Commerce, where commerce is warranted
Applications
Software people log into and use every day. Web first, mobile where mobile is genuinely the right surface.
- Customer portals
- Internal and staff tools
- Mobile applications
Software and platforms
Custom systems built around how your business actually runs, rather than how software usually assumes it does.
- Operational and business software
- Dashboards and reporting
- SaaS products
Systems and integration
The connective work: making the tools you already use behave like one system instead of four.
- APIs and integrations
- Workflow automation
- Data flows between systems
Six stages, in order.
None of this is unusual. Doing it in order, and finishing each stage before starting the next, is where the difference shows up.
We learn the business: what it sells, who buys, how work moves through it, and where it breaks. Conversations first, documents second.
We write down what should be built and, just as usefully, what should not. Scope, priorities, constraints, and how we will know it worked.
Information architecture, data models, user flows, and a full inventory of pages or screens. The skeleton before the skin.
Layout, interface, tone and behaviour. We design the difficult states — empty, long, slow, wrong — not only the ideal one.
Development in reviewable stages, on a stack chosen for whoever has to live with it after we hand it over.
We ship, watch how it is actually used, and keep improving where the project earns it.
The brief is not the beginning.
We build software. We just don't begin with software.
Most projects start with a list: these pages, these features, this deadline. The list is usually an answer that got written down before anyone wrote down the question.
We are not against briefs. We read them as evidence rather than instructions. Before quoting pages or features, we want to know what the business does, who it serves, where the work currently gets stuck, and what still has to be true in three years.
Sometimes that confirms the original plan exactly, and we build it. Sometimes it makes the project smaller. Occasionally it shows that the real problem sits somewhere the website was never going to reach.
The better we understand the beginning, the better we can build what comes after it.
If a simpler route serves you better, we will say so early.
That includes telling you a project is not a fit for us. It costs a conversation and saves a year.
Every business begins somewhere.
Sometimes it begins with a problem someone got tired of. Sometimes with an opportunity that was only open for a week. Sometimes with an idea carried quietly for years.
Before it can grow, it needs a first form. A name. A presence. A system. A product. Something real enough to be used, shown, tested and argued with.
SOMLIS exists to help build that first form.
From Somnium — a Latin word for a dream.
Drawn from Natalis — associated with birth and origin.
A constructed name, built from two ideas: a dream, and its origin.
The idea stays yours. We help build where it starts.
You might be one of these.
You run a business that deserves a better presence than it currently has.
The company grew. The website did not. We rebuild the front of the business so it matches the rest of it.
You have a process that has outgrown a spreadsheet.
Orders in a chat thread, stock in a notebook, three people keeping the real version in their heads. That is a software problem wearing an admin disguise.
You have an idea that needs to become a product.
You know what it should do. You are not sure what it should be yet. That is a normal place to start, and a good one to start carefully.
You already have something, and it needs to move on.
A platform you have outgrown, a system nobody can maintain, or four tools that should have been one. Replacing it is a decision worth thinking through before it is worth quoting.
It rarely stops at a website.
Most businesses arrive asking for one thing and discover the second thing within a year. We build stage one properly, and we build it so stage two is still possible.
A website
The public face. Clear, fast, findable, and truthful about what the business does.
A website with a system behind it
Enquiries, bookings, orders or content stop being email and start being data.
A portal your customers log into
Your clients check their own status, history and documents. Your staff stop answering that call.
A platform the business runs on
Operations, reporting and the customer-facing product become one system rather than several.
We take on work we can do properly, and we say so plainly when a project needs something we are not the right people to build.
Selected builds.
Deimix
A software product designed and built by SOMLIS.
A publishing system built for businesses that need a fast, structured way to put content and offers in front of customers on WhatsApp.
